Michael Schmid comes to Manta United as the Technical director of Manta United with a diverse background in the coaching and playing world of soccer. As a player, he is currently on the USA Deaf National Soccer team, and recently won the Pan American Championships (first time in Men’s Deaf Soccer history) and Golden Boot award in Chile in November 2019 and placed 6th in the 2016 Deaf World Cup in Italy. In addition, He played one year with the Cleveland Freeze in the Professional Arena Soccer League in 2013-2014 season where they finished in the Final Four in their first and only season. Also, he plays in the Cleveland Spanish Futsal League, adding another dimension to his technical awareness. As the head coach, he has taken Oberlin High School to the District playoffs all four years from 2013-2016, Runner-up in 2014. As a Club Coach, he helped Cleveland Kickers U17-18 win two tournament championships in Hudson and Niagara Falls and was a Force Soccer Academy Head Trainer from 2015-2017. He holds a US Soccer Coaching E license, and certified as a Personal Trainer and Exercise Therapy Specialist through ISSA, and PSS Certified Performance Coach.
